OPPO What do you think would be the best DD? Like for real. Doesn't matter season. Total DD.
![]() 10/24/2014 at 14:01 |

I want to say Ferrari, but honestly the Porsche would porbably be the best DD
![]() 10/24/2014 at 14:01 |
|
And why?
![]() 10/24/2014 at 14:02 |
|
Because it's not a Ferrari.
![]() 10/24/2014 at 14:03 |

no flame suit required...but joking aside it will probably give you the least problems and be cheaper to fix when it does break
![]() 10/24/2014 at 14:03 |
|
Ferrari, duh.
![]() 10/24/2014 at 14:04 |

As beautiful as the 348 is, I wouldn't get one over a 308 (Quattrovalvole) or 328. Look at those if you're seriously considering picking something like that up.
![]() 10/24/2014 at 14:04 |
|
It's actually the worst of these as a DD, but that shouldn't matter. It's a Ferrari.
![]() 10/24/2014 at 14:04 |
|
The Maseratis tranny is made of glass and will explode, the 996 porsche has IMS/RMS failure, whats the deal with 348's?
![]() 10/24/2014 at 14:08 |
|
But the 348 is in my price range.
![]() 10/24/2014 at 14:09 |
|
Really? What can go wrong with the Maserati?
![]() 10/24/2014 at 14:09 |
|
Lol
![]() 10/24/2014 at 14:09 |
|
Whats wrong with a Ferrari?
![]() 10/24/2014 at 14:11 |
|
Probably the Porsche due to lower maintenance costs (and TCO in general), better mpg (if that matters), middle of the road comfort between the 3...but...I'd be seriously seriously tempted to take the Ferrari and would probably do so against my more practical judgement
![]() 10/24/2014 at 14:11 |
|
What's the reason you want to DD an exotic? If you want people to say, "wow look at that!" then the obvious choice is obvious. If you want something fun to drive that's a tad more reliable, then go with the Porsche.
![]() 10/24/2014 at 14:12 |
|
Seriously, it's at the bottom of its depreciation curve, it's engine is the Tipo V8 (one of the few "reliable" older Ferrari engines, and one that you can work on yourself), and it has a targa top.
![]() 10/24/2014 at 14:15 |
|
My personal choice? 348 blows the other two out of the water.
Best DD? 911. No contest there.
![]() 10/24/2014 at 14:15 |
|
Nothing, but it wouldn't be a cheap/practical car to DD.
![]() 10/24/2014 at 14:18 |
|
If you get a Ferrari just because it fits in your price range, you're gunna have a bad time. The 348 is a lot harder to service and requires (if I'm not mistaken) some engine-out service (which the 308s and 328s normally do not). This is either going to be a) a pain in your ass and time consuming (not good for a DD) or b) expensive (not good for a DD)
![]() 10/24/2014 at 14:20 |

I hate you for continuing this path
but if you must
i say you go Maserati only because you never see them, those Porsche's are as common as their Beetle design inspiration.
Ferrari is a bit more distinctive but yeah, Maserati's are rare enough
![]() 10/24/2014 at 14:23 |
|
Ferrari.
Ferrari.
Ferrari, Ferrari, Ferrari.
The porsche JUST. ISN'T. SPECIAL.
And the Maz ain't flashy enough.
![]() 10/24/2014 at 14:27 |
|
348 because side strakes.
But my sense or reliability and usability says 911.
![]() 10/24/2014 at 14:29 |
|
Well it just needs to be able to go to STL and back when I need to go home. Also around town when need be. There is a Porsche Dealer in town so it may be the better option but there is a Maserati Service Center in STL (See STL Motorcars) So I cna go any route.
![]() 10/24/2014 at 14:31 |

Yes but it is newer.
![]() 10/24/2014 at 14:34 |

How about we meet in the middle. Exotic styles, but FORD POWER:
![]() 10/24/2014 at 14:37 |

;~; I can't fit in one. I am friends with a guy who ownes one and he let me try and get in and I can't fit.
![]() 10/24/2014 at 14:41 |

Porsche is probably the best DD, and potentially the most reliable and least expensive (weird). However, you need to pick the Ferrari because you are looking for a "cheap exotic". The 911 is not exotic. The Maser is sort of exotic, but personally I am not a big fan of that era GranSport. The Ferrari has class, style, and of the 3 is the only one I would look twice at. Mind the reliability and maintenance though, as we all know, that can break you.

modify the seat brackets
worth it
![]() 10/24/2014 at 14:59 |

You can't. You have to tub the car.
![]() 10/24/2014 at 15:07 |

![]() 10/24/2014 at 15:34 |

THEN YOU TUB THE CAR
It sounds like you already know what to do! make it happen
![]() 10/24/2014 at 15:35 |

![]() 10/24/2014 at 15:36 |

IT SOUNDS LIKE A SHIT LOAD OF MONEY!
I know what I need to do, but the car itself os 40k.
![]() 10/24/2014 at 15:58 |

What if I find one for cheaper?!
![]() 10/24/2014 at 16:02 |

![]() 10/24/2014 at 16:14 |

![]() 10/24/2014 at 16:15 |

Learn to work on it yourself.
Full disclosure- no way would I work on a ferrari, but one of us here wants to work in the auto industry and the other is happy just doing whatever the fuck he wants until death.
![]() 10/24/2014 at 16:44 |

OK well MAYBE you should just get a transmission for the engine that's already in there.
remember
racecar
![]() 10/24/2014 at 16:45 |

LOL I want to work on computers (programming) and really I don't think it could be that bad under that bonnet.
![]() 10/24/2014 at 16:47 |

Then why is this a question?
Rule 1.) Always buy a Ferrari
*exceptions to the rule are if a Lambo is on your list or if you can't afford a ferrari.
![]() 10/24/2014 at 16:53 |
|
Well the thing is I would have to sell the Gran Torino.
![]() 10/24/2014 at 16:56 |
|
Refer to Rule 1 (as stated by me)
![]() 10/24/2014 at 17:41 |

Rather a GT40 motor and call it a triple crown.
